The slalom is an important part of an Agility course. If you are training once or twice a week on a local dog club, you will recognize that teaching a dog to slalom is a long and slow process. Sometimes you are not welcome at the club if your dog doesn't know how to weave yet. Or you can use some channelwires but the dog still cannot weave fast and/or independent. All the problems written above, I experienced myself when my dogs were younger. So I wanted to find a method that I could train myself, at home. Before I moved to Sweden I lived in an appartment, so we needed to go to a field nearby to train. The 2x2 method appeared to be very helpfull for me and within a few weeks my dogs were able to master the slalom, at least to the level of weaving in Grade 1 competitions and join the weekly training at the local dog club. In the video below I show you step by step how to teach your dog to slalom. In this video we start with 4 weaves, but in the next video I will show you the process from 4 to 12 poles. It depends a little bit on your dog and how much time you have, but with this method, you should be able to teach your dog the slalom in less than two months. What do you need for equipment? - A dog - Slalom poles - Food - Clicker (in case your dog is familiar with it) - A toy (in case your dog likes toys) Looking for the perfect tugtoy: Nooffz. - A foodbowl or Treat&Train machine Special reward Send me a video showing that you’ve taught the 4 slalompoles using the steps from the video below. (Max. 1 minute.) I’ll raffle a Nooffz Tugtoy among the first 5 submissions! You can paste a Youtube link in the comments or you can send it to me on Facebook or Instagram.
