Bootcamp Semester

A Bootcamp Holiday is an excellent opportunity to work in detail on areas for improvement. The bootcamp is suitable for dogs of all ages and skill levels. Training sessions are always private.

In addition to agility, you can enjoy a wonderful holiday in beautiful Sweden—taking in the vast natural landscapes and tranquility, hiking, cycling, picking berries and mushrooms, swimming, stand-up paddleboarding, fishing, and, of course, visiting local towns.

I am fortunate enough to own a house with a large plot of land and a guest house. During the Bootcamp Holiday, you will stay in the guest house. It features two bedrooms, and two additional people can sleep on the sofa bed in the living room if needed.
In total, it accommodates six people.

There is also a bathroom and a kitchen, allowing you to be completely self-sufficient.

The house is situated right next to the forest, so you can enjoy walking or cycling in the area during times when we aren't training.

My agility equipment is located in the adjacent garden, so you can train right on the property. Naturally, you are free to use this without restriction.

Dogs are, of course, welcome at no extra cost.

The house is located near Rättvik, Sweden (Gulleråsen, Boda Kyrkby).

To travel

Different options

  • By Air
If you are flying, you should fly to Arlanda Airport in Stockholm. At Arlanda, you can rent a car at a reasonable price or take the train. The train journey to Rättvik Central Station takes about 3–4 hours. Flying is the fastest option and usually the most cost-effective, depending on the cost of flying with your dog. I have done this myself a few times with Winnie (Winnie travels with me in the cabin), and everything went very smoothly.

  • By Car – No Ferries
The cheapest way to travel by car is without using ferries. The distance is approximately 1,600 km (from Amsterdam), which usually takes about 18 hours if you don't stop overnight. You drive through Germany and Denmark—passing through Copenhagen—to Malmö in Sweden, and then continue north.
You should budget between 250 and 300 euros one-way for fuel and bridge tolls, depending on your fuel consumption.

  • By Car – Kiel–Gothenburg Ferry
The most enjoyable and relaxing way to travel is by taking the ferry from Kiel, Germany, to Gothenburg, Sweden.
The ferry departs from Kiel at 18:45 and arrives in Gothenburg at 09:15. There are several restaurants and entertainment options on board. You have your own cabin with a private bathroom, allowing you to get a good night's sleep and continue your journey the next day, well-rested and ready to go.
However, the ferry is quite expensive, depending on when you book and when you travel.

  • By Car – Other Ferries
There are other ferry routes between Germany and Denmark or Sweden. I have never tried them myself, so I cannot offer much advice on them.

Rättvik: Rättvik is a small town situated by the large Lake Siljan. It is best known for Classic Car Week, an event held every July. The town also features a long pier extending into the water and several small beaches where you can go for a swim.

Dala Horse: Rättvik is located in the province of Dalarna, a region famous for the Dala horse. The history of the Dala horse goes back many years to when lumberjacks would pass the time at their campfires by carving small wooden horses to bring home to their children. Today, Dala horses are still crafted by hand and serve as a symbol of Sweden. They are produced in only one place: Nusnäs. It is well worth a visit; there, you can watch how they are made and painted—and, of course, buy some lovely souvenirs.

Forests: Wherever you look, you see forests. Naturally, you can enjoy wonderful walks here, and during the berry and mushroom seasons, you can forage for them in the wild. You can also light a campfire and enjoy a pleasant picnic.

Lakes: There is also an abundance of lakes in the area. You can go stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), swim, or simply take in the beautiful views. Fishing opportunities can also be found here and there.

Leksand: Leksand is a town also situated by Lake Siljan. It features charming red houses and beautiful scenery; Leksand is also home to the crispbread factory, which has a nice little shop where you can buy souvenirs and, of course, crispbread.

Falun/Borlänge: Falun and Borlänge are the largest nearby cities, located about an hour’s drive away. Here, you can enjoy shopping or simply relax and have a good meal. Falun is also home to the Mine—the old copper mine—which is well worth a visit.
